This light switch would turn the heating system on fully or turn it off with no thought of adjustment
A lot of people don’t give much thought to it, but heating systems can be very dangerous. Just a few weeks ago, I had to rewire an entire motel because of a fire caused by a heating system. I am not an HVAC technician. I am an electrician. However, even though I am not an HVAC technician, I know some things about how to connect heating systems that I knew that this motel was not safe. First of all, the heating systems in each of these motel rooms were very old. In fact, some of the space heaters that you see in stores are probably safer than the heating systems that you would have found in these motel rooms. Sadly, the motel wasn’t very concerned about the safety of the heating systems. These rooms were often rented out to very questionable people, which means that they didn’t invest a lot of money in the heating systems. That probably explained why the fire started in the first place. It all started with the thermostat that broke in the heating system. Each of these heating systems had a thermostat that allowed you to adjust the temperature. Since these heating systems were kind of dangerous, it was good that there was a thermostat to turn it off if it ever got too warm. However, when this thermostat broke, instead of calling an HVAC technician, they installed a light switch. This light switch would turn the heating system on fully or turn it off with no thought of adjustment. Because that was not the proper thing to do, nobody was surprised when it caught the building on fire. Thankfully, nobody was hurt. You have to be careful with heating systems.
