Heater doesn’t work when I need it

We don’t have really harsh Winters here in the Southwest that’s why I planned a hiking trip on Christmas Eve.

It didn’t bother me that there was a 40% chance of rain but I wish I had at least brought a raincoat along for the 10-mile hike. It started pouring down rain about halfway through. By the time I got back to my truck I was soaking wet and freezing cold. I was so cold that I couldn’t stop shaking. Once inside of my truck, it took several minutes for the truck to warm up so I can blast the heater and drive home safely. When I finally got home, I decided to turn on the central heater for the first time in forever. Like I said, I never use it because it’s really not that cold here. However, this day I really needed some heat and warmth and I was hoping that the central heater would be able to provide that. Unfortunately though, when I turned it on, the heater would not turn on at all. It just did nothing. I ended up taking a hot bath instead and then curling up on the couch with a warm blanket for the rest of the day. I don’t know if I should call a heater repair company out to take a look at the heater and fix it or not. On the one hand I never use the heater, so what’s the point? On the other hand, I wish I had had a working heater today. It would have been so nice.
