There is a Noisy, Ancient, HVAC Unit in My Hotel Room:

My husband and I have been staying in a hotel room for two weeks now.

We’re traveling for business purposes, so thankfully we’re being put up in a nice hotel through my husband’s company.

My husband and I live internationally half the year, and spend the other half back in the states, so we’re pretty low maintenance when it comes to traveling arrangements. Sometimes, it’s just nice to be back in your home country. The hotel room we’re in has the biggest, comfiest bed, a wonderful fitness center and pool, and a large bathroom. The room is more than comfortable for us, except for the HVAC unit. There is a thermostat on the wall, but the buttons don’t change anything and there’s no vents. I’m not sure if the thermostat actually does anything other than state the current temperature in the room. There’s also a large, chunky HVAC unit under the window that has seen better days. It has two knobs, which control the temperature and fan speed. This HVAC unit pushes out cool air every fifteen minutes or so, and it sounds strenuous. Because the air isn’t being distributed consistently, the temperature of the room fluctuates dramatically. Not only is it loud, but it makes weird clicking noises before and after pushing the cool air out. The noises are very annoying when you’re trying to sleep at night. I don’t know much about HVAC units, but this cannot be energy efficient. I’m waiting on it to stop working any minute now.
