We use radiant heat for our feathered buddies

I am regularly forgetting to close the door after I walk out to our screened-in porch… This means that creatures are regularly getting inside the place, however, I was surprised to find robbins making a massive nest on our BBQ.

I think it is early in the year for nesting but soon, there were 4 bald tiny baby birds on the BBQ.

Then the news said that a huge blizzard was about to hit us. It is late in the season for blizzards plus I was incredibly sad that the baby birds could perish in the snow and cold… After doing a little bit of research I discovered that some people try and use heat lamps to keep their chickens hot in the snow. That’s similar. I do not have a heat lamp although I do have a nice little radiant space heater. I decided to set up the space heating system out there on our screened-in porch plus hoped that it would labor exactly in the same way that the heat lamps labor for the chickens. The next cold day all of the outside was covered in snow. I instantly went to check on the health of the baby birds plus found that they were hot plus alive. The tiny radiant space heating system had worked attractively. I was genuinely cheerful to see the birds, plus so were the robin parents. I ended up leaving the little radiant space heating system outside for a few weeks until the snow melted plus finally Springtime came back. I wonder if I need to leave our porch open next year plus again have a radiant space heating system sitting there ready for the next generation of robins.
