Getting experience under my belt

For the past couple of weeks I have been heading in with my father to his job each morning.

My father has worked as a certified HVAC repair tech for pretty much all of my life, and now that it’s the summer and I am finally at an age where I can work the first thing I did was ask my dad if I could be his new paid intern. Getting paid to work for your dad seemed like an easy gig to me and it sounded much better than being bored playing video games all day long. Even though there are some things that I have really struggled learning about the HVAC industry I have enjoyed nearly every day working side by side with my father. One of the things that I truly didn’t expect was the deep amount of respect and appreciation for him after seeing how hard he has worked day in and day out for us. Working as an HVAC repair tech for a living can take a toll on you both mentally and physically, so to say that I am proud of my father would be an understatement. My father is far from a spring chicken and is still able to run laps around me in terms of workload and efficiency. Even though we are still only a few weeks into summer I’m already planning to ask my father if I can work for him next summer as well. Who knows, if I keep learning the things that I need to perhaps I will join him one day as a certified HVAC repair tech.
