Massage therapy helps with lower back pain

When I started having some issues with my back, including pain and tightness, I looked into all different options, from a chiropractor to exercise. Then I read an article about the health benefits of massage therapy. The idea of booking an appointment at a high end salon and getting pampered sounded way better than getting cracked by a chiropractor. With some further research I learned that massage is one of the oldest healing methods. Ancient Greeks, Egyptians and Chinese were believers in the therapeutic properties of massage and used it to treat a long list of ailments. By manipulating the muscles and soft tissue, the masseuse is able to improve health and well being. The therapy includes holding, moving and applying pressure to various muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia. The different pressure and intensity of the treatment affects the results. The first time I tried it, I immediately noticed a feeling of relaxation and calm. The room was dimly lit, with soft music and a pleasant incense burning. I had explained that I’d injured my back moving a heavy couch and pointed exactly where the discomfort was originating from. Although the masseuse concentrated on that particular area, she treated my body from my neck to my toes. I don’t think I’ve ever felt quite so peaceful in my whole life. I nearly fell asleep during the massage. I was so impressed with the results that I now have a standing appointment at the salon. I get a massage every Saturday morning without fail. I look forward to it and feel absolutely revitalized afterward.
