I’d Rather Have New Windows than a new HVAC

After my spouse and I got married, we each received a lot of money from our wedding, so we decided to put the money into a house! But we still haven’t decided what to buy.

I’ve been wanting to replace the windows in our house for a while now.

We have old windows that don’t open easily, are fogged up, disgusting, and let chilly air in. We cannot use our HVAC system efficiently and effectively with old windows. She wants to change our central heating, ventilation, and air conditioning to a ductless heat pump. The lake house could have many indoor air handlers with a control unit. Every room could be a different temperature. A heat pump operates much more efficiently than a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system. Zone control is a wonderful and easy way to save energy. It utilizes existing heat energy rather than creating it. Outside heat is pumped inside to heat the building. You get cleaner air this way, and heat energy is pushed outdoors for cooling. It is even better if you bury the outdoor unit and make it geothermal powered. This is quite expensive. It would cost quite a bit of wedding money to buy it. I’m not sure if I can afford it. Having a current HVAC and A/C system would be great, but I don’t think we need it as much as our windows. From an aesthetic standpoint, windows would be more noticeable.
