We both want to put the money into our house, but neither of us knows exactly what to buy.
I really want new windows for the house. Our outdated windows are hard to open, fogged up, disgusting, and let in chilly air. It is not energy efficient and great for our HVAC system to operate with outdated windows! Basically, my partner wants to replace the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, and he wants to convert our central heating, ventilation, and air conditioning into a ductless heat pump. While both of us could have multiple indoor air handlers with temperature controls in the lake house, every room might be at a different temperature. Zone control is a great, easy way to conserve energy. However, a heat pump will also operate much more efficiently than a typical HVAC system. It uses existing energy rather than creating it. Heat is pumped inside from outside through a heat pump. This method provides cleaner air anyway, and it pushes heat energy outside for cooling. If you bury the outdoor unit and make it a geothermal heat pump, the system is even better. However, it is quite expensive. We would need quite a bit of wedding money to buy it. I’m not sure if I am willing to do this. I think that a new HVAC system would be great, but I don’t think we need it as much as new windows. From a visual standpoint, windows would be more noticeable.
