My mom is without question an amazing artist.
She’s very well known in the community for her work, from ceramics to photography.
Mom began with taking photographs back when she was only 16 years old! Her parents bought a camera for her rather than a car – her choice, believe it or not. As she learned how to develop photographs at home, my grandmother built a dark room for her. While in college, my mother took up painting and ceramics! Before long, pictures and paintings were being transferred to those ceramics by my dear mom. In the beginning, the pictures did not look great. Things changed when Kerajet came out with the first ceramic printers, and my mom decided to buy one. The Kerajet ceramic printer was undoubtedly extravagant and very pricey, but I remember when my mom discussed the purchase with my dad, saying she could easily make a million dollars if he would just help buy the Kerajet ceramic printer for her! I’m not sure if my mom managed to make that million though. She uses the printer often, but she has her own line of designer flatware and dishes! All of the dishes are handmade, which can be printed with a variety of stencils, photographs, fonts, and colors. Pretty cool, right? While Kerajet changed the way that my mom was doing business with ceramic printing, I still think it was one of her greatest ideas to use ceramic printing in the first place.
