Air conditioning and humidity balance go hand in hand

There is a reason I don’t smell love bleach and water all the time the way my Grandmother did.

I’m closing in quickly on sixty so my Grandmother has been long dead.

But I remember that smell about her from about May through about November. We’re from this region and our family goes back generations right here. So my Grandmother’s lake house didn’t have residential Heating and A/C. It was a neat little saltbox of a lake house and super clean. But it was super wash because my Grandmother couldn’t count on the air conditioner to balance the humidity in her lake house when it got hot. That means the conditions were super ripe for mold & mildew. And that’s where the bleach and water smell comes from when I guess of my Grandmother. Since the humidity just ran wild in her house, all she could do was kill the mold with bleach and water. Then, consistently wash it up. Thankfully, that’s not something I had to experience myself. The lake house I grew up in did have central air conditioner and I’ve never known a lake house separate from it. For sure, the Heating and A/C cooling is something every one of us are all grateful for around here. That goes double for July and November. But it’s the humidity control and balance that I’m most thankful for. And what’s too bad is the fact that most people just take this for granted. I don’t guess they would if they had to spend a month with a container of bleach and water instead of the Heating and A/C cooling process.
