I assume that is a pretty long time to remain friends, and the words my step dad said to myself and others absolutely don’t seem accurate for all those buddies of mine who are still in my life
I tend to talk a lot about this friend or that friend it seems, however at least I have some friends to talk about. The older I become the more dear and special my old friends are to me. Some of them are gone now, which makes the people that are left far more special because you assume they won’t be around forever. My grand dad consistently told myself and others that having family is everything because friends come and go, although he has no friends and does not realize that you can have best friends for life if you choose to. My heating provider neighbor has been a good friend of mine for the past 35 or 40 years or more, and I have a whole bunch of other friends from the past 35 or 40 years that I met while working in the heating and cooling technology field over the years. I had a huge bonfire party with our outdoor fireplace the other evening and about 30 or so of my Heating, Ventilation & A/C techs and Heating, Ventilation & A/C friends came over to hang out with me. I met them all over the years while working in the industry and will continue to stay close with them for the next 20 years or as long as I am alive. Later this evening I am doing a heating tune up with the guy who owns a heating company in my town, and I’ve known him for over 45 years!
