Replacing or repairing my hot water heater

I’ve been an HVAC tech for many years, and have worked on a lot of hot water heaters in my day, but I really have limited tools now that I am not working so much.

This is the question for the day, as we have no more hot water in the flat. I guess it is going to be a while too, because I will have to order one and it will probably take weeks to arrive. I think I can do the installation myself though and save some time on that end. It’s funny because I just lowered my roommates rent by $100 and the water heater broke the next day. I think she uses a lot of hot water to wash her clothes and takes showers, but I can’t blame it on her. HVAC equipment breaks all of the time and it is just one of those things, so maybe hiring an HVAC company to come out and do the job would be best. I am good at stuff like this but I am not sure I have all of the proper tools to get the job done. I’ve been an HVAC tech for many years, and have worked on a lot of hot water heaters in my day, but I really have limited tools now that I am not working so much. I don’t think I need many HVAC tools to replace this electric heater though, I just need a wrench and some screwdrivers and I should be set. I want to get the exact same unit though so there are no surprises when it comes to hooking it up. But, I will contact a heating dealership and see how much the propane boilers cost and if they are a better option than the electric one.
