The owner of my flat said that I am responsible for paying for the heater, but I feel that it is part of the building and that he should cover it.
I have to take cold showers for the next few weeks probably, at least until we get the hot water working again. I’m not sure what happened but we now have cold water only. The only main problem with this is taking showers, as I don’t mind washing dishes with cold water or doing my laundry on the cold water setting. But taking a cold shower in the wintertime is not exactly relaxing, although it does seem to wake me up quite quickly. Maybe I don’t even need hot water, but my flatmate would never make it without it. The HVAC company said they could send out an HVAC technician, but not for five more weeks. I think I could probably replace the old unit myself, but I kind of have my hands full with my other job each day and don’t have a lot of free time to fix things like broken electric heaters or any HVAC equipment for that matter. Somehow it will get fixed eventually and life will resume as it has been for the past 55 years for me. I will go to the heating and cooling dealership later this week to see if they can send out a hot water heater installer and we’ll just get a new one put in.
