Adding insulation helps with heating & cooling

The weather in our local section is severe all year round.

The Winter time brings temperature down to negative twenty with severe wind chill & feet of snow accumulation.

The two of us expect to rely on the gas furnace for a minimum of more than five months. While the Summer weather doesn’t last long, the temperature climbs into the high eighties with brutal humidity levels. The a/c works at maximum capacity all day & night to keep up. I switch between paying enormous heating bills & costly cooling bills. Because of the drain on the budget & impact on the environment, I’m constantly searching for new ways to improve energy efficiency. I’ve reduced the workload of the gas furnace & a/c by replacing windows & caulking around them. I keep the heating & cooling component laboring at peak capacity by scheduling professional tuning every year. I asked the HVAC corporation for recommendations on how to further trim costs, & she advised updating the insulation in the attic. When I evaluated our attic, I found that the insulation had suffered disfigure from moisture & rodents. It was no longer providing an effective barrier between the weather & the indoors, rather than hire the professional to update the insulation, I decided to save money by completing the installation process myself. The task was an absolute nightmare. The attic was around 100 degrees & stuffy. The outdated insulation was disgustingly dirty. It took all day Thursday & Thursday to remove the outdated layers & install the new. Now that it is in place, I’ve noticed a definite improvement in the comfort level of our home. The gas furnace & a/c don’t need to run quite as long or work as hard to maintain ideal temperature. There are fewer hot & cold spots & our annually energy bills are a bit lower.
