AC units with higher SEER ratings are better for your home and your wallet

The SEER rating stands for the seasonal Energy Efficiency ratio.

  • This is a unique math equation that defines the typical cooling for each machine during the summer season.

The higher Seer rating means a more energy-efficient Heating and Cooling machine. Back in the 1980s, the government passed a law that required all air conditioners and heaters to have a minimum Seer rating of 10. 20 years later, the minimum SEER rating was increased to 14. Every central air conditioner installed in the southern portion of the country has to be at least a 14 seer neustein. When my wife and I decided to upgrade the air conditioner in our home, we looked at several different systems. We decided to buy an 18 SEER heat pump and air conditioner. The higher rated machine was easily more expensive than some of the others, but we knew it was important to have energy efficient Heating and Cooling in our home. We used to spend about $300 every month for our Heating and Cooling costs. Since we upgraded to the higher rated machine, our annual costs are down by 15%. This is a huge amount of savings month by month. All of the money adds up and helps the two of us pay for the cost of the brand new Heating & Air conditioning system. Now that we have updated our indoor climate control system, my wife and I can focus on the backyard. We need a brand new fence and the patio needs a lot of work too. We could use a contractor in the backyard to be honest.
