Did you know that your thermostat could be in the wrong place? Most people don’t even realize that the placement of the smart thermostat can actually be pretty important.
Don’t worry, I didn’t realize this either until I started having problems with the thermostat myself. Nowadays, a lot of people like having very large windows in their homes. Those large windows let in a lot of sunlight, and this can affect the temperature of your home. Most people already know this, however. What most people don’t know is that the sun shining on your thermostat can actually give you false readings. When I moved into my home a few years ago, I let as much sunlight in as possible, because I liked the way it made my home look. Unfortunately, the sun was directly shining on my thermostat, and not only gave it false readings, but it was heating and cooling when it wasn’t supposed to. I thought that the thermostat was just malfunctioning and that I was going to need to get a new one. That was what I was expecting to hear, but the A/C technician told me that the thermostat was working perfectly fine, it was the location that was the issue. I guess the previous owners always had their curtains drawn, so it was never a problem for them. Since I still wanted to keep my windows open, the air conditioning technician just moved the thermostat to a new location, and I haven’t had a problem with it since.
