I’ll be really happy once I get done putting in this last heating system because that will prove to my employers that I know what I am doing. I have been working as an assistant to an HVAC technician at my new company for about two months now. Ever since they hired me on as an assistant HVAC technician, I have been following this guy around and doing exactly what he tells me to do. I am basically his assistant, and he is trying to teach me everything that he knows before they turn me loose so I can go out on my own. I guess it’s a good thing that they do this kind of training, because it really helps new people like me to learn proper procedures. I have liked all of the extra training, to tell you the truth. Even though I already have my HVAC certification and I made really great grades in my class and on my exam, there is still nothing like on the job training to learn something well. I have learned a whole lot of different tips and tricks from the HVAC technician that I have been apprenticing with. This guy has been in the HVAC business for years and years and he really knows what he is doing. Tomorrow, I will be installing a furnace system all by myself and he’s just supposed to stand back and watch me as I do it. I’m really hoping that I do everything exactly right because if I do, they are finally going to let me start doing furnace installations by myself!
