Most of the time, it’s so quiet in the lake house that you can hear a pin drop.
June hears every tiny squeak and creak inside of the lake house.
Her closest neighbor is down the street. She does not have any neighbors that are close to her home. When the neighbors have a loud party, sometimes June can hear the music. It’s nice to have some distance between the lake houses. She would never want to live in a city where her neighbor can look out the window and talk to her. That is way too close in her opinion. Since it’s uncommon for June to hear any noises coming from her neighbor’s home, it was weird for her to get woken up at midnight. She heard screams coming from the house. June suddenly got out of bed and looked out the window. Her neighbor’s house was on fire. She got into her automobile and drove down there as fast as possible. June wanted to lend any assistance if necessary. Two fire trucks pulled into the property right before she arrived. They started dousing the entire house with water. The neighbors got out of the house in time and so did all of the kids and pets. Thankfully, no lives were lost during the fire. The sparks took out half of the house. The fire was caused by a short in the oil furnace wires. Oil furnace fires can be deadly, and they are a huge issue in this part of the country. They all rely on their oil furnace during this time of the year and fires can happen from time to time.
