Last week whenever we were at the zoo, the heating system tore up. This wasn’t ever something that had happened before and we are at the zoo a whole lot. My kids love going there to visit all of the animals and we spend a lot of time there. Usually the indoor air quality in the indoor exhibits is great and it’s nice and cool during the summer or warm in the winter. However, when we were there last week, there was something wrong with the HVAC system in all of the indoor exhibits. There were commercial HVAC technicians running around all over the place and riding the tram up and down the hill at the zoo from the main entrance all the way up to the monkey house at the top of the hill. The commercial HVAC technicians were lugging around all kinds of HVAC tools and pieces and parts and they were all in a big hurry. You could tell that they were all in a hurry to get to the different exhibits for some reason. Finally I talked to one of the guys who worked for the zoo and he said that they were having issues with the animals who live in a warmer climate. I guess the heating systems had broken down in many of the buildings around the zoo and so they were rushing to try and fix the heating systems before the animals got too cold. I had never really thought about it before that day, but if the heating system is not working in the lions’ enclosure or the giraffes’ enclosure, it might really make them sick!
