Every 6 months I have my HVAC system serviced: once in the spring and again in the fall.
That’s why I was so surprised when my air conditioner stopped working great in the middle of the summer.
It didn’t go out completely, I just could not get our house below about 78° even though it ran constantly. I was a bit annoyed. After all, I was paying our HVAC company to come out twice a year and my HVAC system still went down. However, when I called the company I started to feel a little bit better. It seems that because I followed their service plan recommendations a technician would come out and assess my air conditioner at no charge at all. To make it even better, they sent a technician out that very same day. He arrived right on time and got down to work immediately. I worried about an expensive repair bill but that did not turn out to be the case at all. I laughed when the technician found the problem. It turned out that my son had been putting his toys in the HVAC intake vent. The vent was just stuff full of toys, clothes, and miscellaneous items. I guess that’s what you get when the intake vent is in the child’s room and you ask him to clean his room. I asked the technician to put locking screws over the intake vent so that this would not happen again. Now the air conditioner is working great and I’m happy once more.
