A very frosty heat pump

I wish heat pump systems were not so pricey. I believe the major cause is the outdoor unit. For a geothermal heat pump, the Heating, Ventilation plus A/C professional has to install an underground loop system. A trench has to be dug in addition to tons of machine installed under the sod. It is messy, time consuming in addition to costs a lot hiring out the weird services. The indoor component is an simple set up process. But, the initial heat pump replacement scares away even the bravest of people. If I lived in the south, I would go for it. A heat pump is amazing in how it works. It moves existing heat energy rather than creates it. That is how the plan is the most efficient Heating, Ventilation plus A/C opening on the market, however heat energy under the ground is pumped indoors for heating. The air quality is cleaner in addition to dust free doing this. For summer time cooling, the indoor heat is pushed underground outside. It is certainly effective, but only in hot in addition to cold temperatures above 40 degrees. Since I live in the north, the heat pump would only work for cooling. The whole point of the heat pump is that it works efficiently in addition to is a 2 for 1 system. In the north I could do a dual fuel system. I could combine a gas oil furnace with it for the heating function. The plan then decides if it uses gas or electric based on the temperature. It is efficient, but you are not saving as much because you now have 2 systems. The high price tag on a heat pump doesn’t seem worth it if it is only an air conditioner.
