Make sure you understand the HVAC warranty

I’m bad about just clicking that I have read and understand way too much online.

There are just too many times where I simply click accept and move on.

But when it came to the new HVAC equipment, I wasn’t as quick to just glance at the fine print and move along. The fact that my wife and I had invested quite a bit of money in the new HVAC equipment had something to do with that. Our old HVAC unit had come to the end of a long and distinguished heating and cooling career. So we went to the HVAC professionals to guide us through the process of getting new heating and cooling equipment. They made it all very easy and were so thorough. So when the HVAC contractor handed me the HVAC warranty and suggested that I read it, he didn’t have to ask me twice. And I’m glad I did because I learned a lot. For one, I had only a 90 day window in which to register the HVAC warranty with the factory. Had I not gotten that chunk of information, there’s every possibility that I would have voided the warranty after just 3 months. The other key part of the HVAC warranty was the fact that nobody but a certified, licensed HVAC technician could work on it. That made sense as well but again, I’m glad I knew. Fast forward like 5 years and I came home to a hot house. The air conditioning wasn’t running but there was power to it. I thought I’d take a look to see if I could find the reason it wasn’t running. But knowing the HVAC warranty stopped me dead in my tracks and I simply picked up the phone to call the HVAC company instead.
