Overuse of air conditioning in the city

I have recently moved back to the city after living in the country for five years.

I’m grateful that I’ve had this great job opportunity, but it will for sure take me a while to get used to the pollution, the lack of nature, and the stressful lifestyle.

Everyone appears to be in a rush and completely addicted to their smartphones. One of the main disadvantages for me is car pollution, which is more noticeable after being used to breathing fresh, clean air every day. I also miss the wildlife and greenery, given that parks are rare in this particular city. Parks are such an important space because trees clean the air and provide oxygen, which is essential for our overall health. However, one of the biggest things that bugs me about living in the city is the use of heating and cooling devices when they are not necessary. On a mildly hot day, I’d go to the supermarket and be unable to enjoy my shopping because the air conditioner would be set too high. This is very bad for our health and our environment. I often take the train to go to work, and in the winter I often find myself sweating underneath my clothes because the heater is too warm. I just don’t think all of this is necessary most of the time. The city can also offer a lot of good things and I´m not against the use of HVAC devices as long as they are used moderately.
