At the place where I work they are always making corporate decisions on things. I am never included in these because I am just a regular worker and not part of the management. Recently, they went and made a decision to upgrade their commercial heating and air conditioning system to a rooftop HVAC system. Because of them having such a drastic change in their central heating and air conditioning, and because of all the HVAC maintenance that was about to take place they had to give us all time off from work. Not that i’m complaining cause it was with pay. But I didn’t realise how much construction was going to be needed to put in a rooftop HVAC system. I had thought that installing a rooftop HVAC system was going to be no different than your standard or commercial heating and air conditioning system. But this was not the case here. Aside from getting a week off from work with full pay, it was kind of cool to learn a little about the process of the installation of a rooftop HVAC system. We had it all explained to us because of the unseen and unplanned vacation time. Their commercial heating and air conditioning system was on its last leg, so that was why they made this decision on such short notice. Had there been time to plan it out, they told us that they would have paid extra money and had the rooftop HVAC construction done over 1 full weekend so that they didn’t have to send us all home.
