Hotel air conditioners

Ever wonder why hotel air conditioners are always so cold? While the intensity of hotel AC systems had been something I’d noticed in passing, I hadn’t given it much thought until I started traveling for work and virtually lived out of hotel rooms. It was then that I noticed that, regardless of the caliber of the hotel or where I was stationed, the A/C system in the hotel room ran on all-or-nothing basis, which is to say, even when set to a moderate temperature, it would get too cool so that I’d have to turn the A/C system off in order not to freeze. In that event, however, the room would ultimately then get too hot, which would require that I turn the A/C system back on. It became a vicious cycle night after night in different hotel rooms. It was difficult to sleep either because it was too cold or because it was too hot. The night after I let the A/C system run continuously, I woke up with a terrible sinus infection. Complaining to management doesn’t seem to make any difference in the matter. While they all respond with sympathy and promise to “send someone to take a look,” it seems that they lack the means and ability to make any changes to the A/C system. The typical response is to offer patrons a new room. Of course this doesn’t help because the A/C system in every room is the same. So, I decided after about two years of traveling and staying in hotels, that I needed to do something else and found a local position that allows me to sleep in the comfort of my own bed and with my own A/C system every night.
